George Browne

I first became interested in farming as a teenager, doing odd jobs on a smallholding. Soon I became hooked and by the time I was 16 I was helping on a local dairy farm and applied to study agriculture at college.

I took an FdSc in dairy herd management, followed by a BSc in agribusiness. Then progressed to managing a 500-cow herd in North Yorkshire. Here, I learned valuable lessons about building and motivating teams, including the importance of good mentoring.

After helping to devise and execute an expansion plan for the farm, I decided that I wanted to focus on business planning and strategy. That is why I joined Promar International, in March 2023.

I work collaboratively with my clients to identify opportunities that we gather from a farm’s data. For me, technical and business efficiency go together. I strongly believe that every farm business, no matter how successful, has the potential to improve. I also believe that we in the farming industry can learn from the wider business community, and vice versa.

Above all, my love for British farming and agriculture drives me in my role. I strongly believe that the future of food production and climate security lies in the collective hands of our industry.

I live on a dairy farm in Newark with my fiancée, who is the assistant manager of a 650 split block, calving cows. Away from farming we love travelling and our aim is to visit every country in the world.
