Peter Hoyle

I am a Research and Data Analyst for Promar International and I joined the company in March 2017. I’m originally from a mixed livestock farming background in Devon (dairy, beef, sheep and pigs) and I also have more than 20 years of experience in the practical and financial aspects of managing an agricultural business.

Since joining Promar I have been involved with the progression of the work carried out for the Tesco Sustainable Dairy Group (TSDG).  I designed and developed the analysis tools used to analyse and evaluate monthly herd costing data. I have also been heavily involved with extending the Farm Business Accounts and Cost Tracker Service into the Organic Dairy Sector, collecting and aggregating physical and financial data, as well as leading the cost of production calculations.

Working with internal colleagues and representatives of the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, I have helped to develop bespoke models which specific Ukrainian dairy farmers can adopt to improve their technical efficiency and productivity. I have also developed a complex model for calculating the length of time fixed assets have been on farm.

Other recent assignments include the analysis of European Dairy Farmers survey data, costing data and herd health measures. I am familiar with applying statistical techniques to both qualitative and quantitative data and have also designed research studies into rural entrepreneurship and strategic business management, for which mixed methods of data analysis techniques were used.

I obtained a prizewinning postgraduate degree from Kings College London and I am a member of the Institute of Agricultural Management.
