I was reared on a dairy farm in south Warwickshire and formally educated in Agriculture at Harper Adams University College. However, my real education for my consultancy role has come from the hundreds (if not now thousands!) of dairy farmers I have had the privilege to meet and work with over the 30 + years of my career. My satisfaction comes from helping to find solutions to the challenges of modern farming systems in sustainable ways for the farming family, the cows and the environment.
Although I have specialised over this time in manure management, nutrient planning and the built infrastructure, this is very much as part of a holistic, whole system approach to farming.
I have had the opportunity to work on farms and projects from Nantwich to North Africa; the Mendip Hills to Myanmar; Telford to Turkey and Tamil Nadu in India. Although these are some very different climates and systems, if the solutions are driven from the needs of the cow, then the results will be right for the farmer too.
When I’m not working, my time is spent with family and friends and doing a bit of gardening. I still have an interest with my brother in that farm in south Warwickshire. Although the dairy cows are long gone, it is now an organic grassland system and keeps my practical farming hand in.
If you feel I maybe be able to help you find solutions to your farming challenges, please do pick up the phone for a chat.
