During my A-levels I worked on a local dairy farm which gave me the opportunity, after leaving college, to manage the herd. I did this on a contract basis which has resulted in a hugely successful, family haulage business that is now run by my son. My 25 years experience of running a successful business gives me a deep understanding of the current pressures faced by my clients.
As a CPC holder I am responsible for the compliance of vehicle safety, drivers and international legislation – a mark of competence, responsibility and reliability, which is transferable to many areas.
In my spare time I indulge in numerous sporting activities being a Level 1 RFU Rugby Coach, running school rugby clubs for the East Sussex cluster Primary Schools. I once played at National 1 and County level rugby and have completed the Beachy Head marathon twice.
I dedicated a lot of time to the London Olympics 2012 spending 6 months on site at Greenwich Park, organising the deliveries of equipment for the equestrian arenas, on a very tight schedule, for the build and take down of the event.
