Following a career in national parks, regional government and environmental consultancy, I joined Promar International in 2011 to build the company’s Sustainability team.
My expertise lies in energy efficiency and generation, carbon footprinting and greenhouse gas accounting, air quality, pollution control and diffuse pollution management.
Working with clients across the supply chain I help identify how sustainable businesses are and build strategies to improve their environmental impact. I also work with clients to show how being more environmentally sustainable can make their businesses more profitable and resilient.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, running half marathons, going to concerts and making the most of the outdoors by camping, cycling and hiking.
“So many sectors have been slow to wake up to the challenge of climate change. Addressing major environmental challenges requires each business across the sector to scope, plan, measure and continually improve. We need a new mindset to really make a difference.
To achieve change agriculture and food policy needs to wake up to the challenge of sustainable development. It requires integrated action and collaborative partnerships which deal with the elephants in the room.”Thomas Gill, Head of Sustainability at Promar International.
